Choosing the right boiler for your Cardiff home.
Heating here has its own quirks. The mains flow rate decides whether a combi will cope in a Roath or Cathays terrace, and insulation varies enormously in older Victorian houses in Pontcanna. What is not a factor is limescale: our supply comes off Brecon Beacons sandstone and shale rather than chalk, so the water is soft to slightly hard and the descaling advice written for England doesn't apply.
What does kill boilers round here is sludge and magnetite building up in the radiators, so a proper flush matters more than a scale reducer.

How often should my boiler be serviced?
Once a year. It keeps the boiler running efficiently, catches small faults before they become breakdowns, and most manufacturers' warranties require it.
My boiler has stopped, can you come today?
Ring me. I'm on call 24/7 and aim to be with you inside 90 minutes for a breakdown, and I'll tell you the price before I set off.
Are you certified?
Yes. I'm Gas Safe registered and City & Guilds qualified, and fully insured. Ask to see the cards at the door, and do the same with any plumber you let in.
